The RLC will be adding its voice to the growing nationwide chorus calling for respect for the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution when the group lands in Tallahassee for its annual Day at the Capitol grassroots lobbying effort, March 17-18.

Also atop the agenda is a the continuing push for a Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) style spending restraint to keep state and local governments under the people's control.

Again this year, the event is being organized by RLCer and political consultant John Hallman, director of the Florida Taxpayers Union, who will be setting up the appointments with dozens of legislators and securing discounted accommodations in Tallahassee.

Past year's lobbying efforts have led to tangible results, including a meaningful state remedy to the Kelo decision and also the successful defense of Florida's legislative term limits law. This is the third year pushing the TPA, or TABOR, and each year the issue has advanced further. Last year a TABOR measure failed to make the ballot by just a vote or two.

Other issues on the table for discussion with legislators include anti-card check legislation being introduced this year, reforming Gov. Charlie Crist's disastrous insurance reform and property tax reform.

Stay tuned to the RLC website for up to date info (see link below). In the meantime, be sure to mark your calendars and RSVP (or ask questions) with John Hallman at (561) 715-7203.
