Meeting Description

Who

You should attend this meeting if you are interested in joining the Republican Executive Committee, the governing body of the Republican Party of Palm Beach County.

Why

Check out, participate and network with other local politically active libertarian Republicans. Warning: The REC is less issue-oriented than the GOP club meetings, focusing on the nuts and bolts of party structure, budgeting and elections.

Organized by

"RLCers traditionally identify themselves by wearing the white-on-blue 'libertarian REPUBLICAN' lapel stickers or the new gold RLC of Florida lapel pins."
--Philip Blumel

Details

The Republican Executive Committee is the governing body of the Republican Party of Palm Beach County and meets the second Wednesday of each month. RLCers are encouraged to join the REC and/or local GOP clubs in order to 1) promote our libertarian philosophy and policy ideas to and through the party and 2) to assist like-minded Republicans to win party and public office.

The REC is made up of one hundred (100) districts. Approximately two thousand (2,000) registered Republicans live in each REC District. Members of the Republican Executive Committee represent the registered Republicans who live in their executive committee district. They serve as the Party's liaison to those Republicans in that particular part of the county.

The Republican Executive Committee is the component of the Republican Party of Palm Beach County that elects the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Party. Members of the REC also approve the Party's constitution; Rules, Policies & Procedures; and budget.

The REC also plays an important role in the grassroots effort of the Party and the overall team effort to get Republicans elected in Palm Beach County. The Republican Executive Committee is the basis for our grassroots efforts. The Party relies on Members of the REC to organize their districts and find volunteers within your district to support our grassroots efforts throughout the county.

If you are interested in becoming a Member of the Republican Executive Committee, please contact REC headquarters at (561) 686-1616.

"Confusing, boring, and too slow... "

  • Philip Blumel
"REC meetings are important as this is the governing organization of the GOP of Palm Beach County. But the meetings also tend to be boring, as they are business and not issue-oriented. But it is also a good opportunity to meet and spend time with fellow RLCers. There were a bunch of us at the May meeting. Clubs -- as opposed to RECs -- are more issue-oriented and usually more enjoyable for RLCers. The one in Atlantis is among the best."
